Hello, my name is Chris Antonicci and I am the
principal of Union Memorial School. Welcome to our school's website. Union
Memorial School is one of two primary schools in Colchester, Vermont servicing
students in grades K through 2. We have a total enrollment of just over 200
students. Let me take a moment to introduce you to our amazing school.
As a school we have greatly exceeded our target for adequate yearly progress
under No Child Left Behind. Our class sizes currently average 19 students and we
have an experienced professional staff that has an average (mean) of 15.5 years
in education. There are many things that make Union Memorial School special. We
have a thriving, supportive Parent Teacher Organization that sponsors annual
events such as our fund-raiser in the fall, spring concert, Staff Appreciation
Week in May and the Student Yearbook. We recently built a $58,000 playground
that is used by the school and community. The parents also are supportive of our
Emergent Reader Program in kindergarten, the Four Winds program and many
individual classroom initiatives. I hope you take a moment to explore the pages
on our site and get acclimated to our staff and school. There are a great number
of wonderful things happening at UMS.
