Porters Point School

Hello, I am Shari Amour, the technology assistant at Porters Point School. Some kids call me the computer lady. I am in charge of maintaining all the computers in the building that includes hardware and software, as well as all the other technology apparatus in the school. Each classroom has at least 2 computers and there is also a lab of 6 computers in the library for student and staff use. There are approximately over 350 pieces of educational software for teachers and students to use.

Technology time is allocated during the children’s Library special. Each week between 6 and 12 children are assigned to a computer for approximately 20 minutes.  During that time, the children are either playing an educational program, doing a web quest, practicing a typing program, learning a word processing program or even learning about a website based on a class theme or a lesson plan. The children are also taught the safety rules while on the computer or also about the internet.

HELP US RECYCLE!

PPS participates in a great print cartridge and cell phone recycling program called  Funding Factory. Send your used cell phones and empty printer cartridges to PPS and we'll redeem them for new technology for our school. You can also feel good about the part you're  playing in preserving our environment for our most valuable resources - our kids.
