Regarding Student Education Records |
In the Colchester School District, a cumulative record is maintained for each student. This record contains verified information of recognized importance and may be used only for the benefit or welfare of the student. It includes information necessary to provide the best possible conditions for the student’s education. Collecting and maintaining data to assist students in present and future endeavors is done in a way that will not impinge upon a student’s privacy or other rights. The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) affords parents and students over 18 years of age (“eligible students”) certain rights with respect to the student's education records.
