33rd Year of Project Inside Out

Help Support Project Inside Out

PIO T-Shirt Design 2013As the 33rd year of Project Inside Out is about to begin (June 7th through June 12th), we are all remembering Mrs. Jed, Patsy Jedrezewski, who passed away a few weeks ago. Memories of Mrs. Jed include countless pictures of her musical instruments and the Great Green Convertible. We also remember fondly, Brenda Bristol, founding Director of Project Inside Out, who died just before the start of the 30th year.

What are your memories of Project Inside Out? Is there a special person or project from your Project Inside Out years? We would like to hear your stories, know what you are doing now and begin to collect historical notes as we draw closer to our 35th celebration.

Project Inside Out is nearly 100% funded by our fall fundraiser and a spaghetti supper and auction in January plus donations. How can you help continue the tradition and create new memories?

  1. Volunteer to help with a project this year
  2. Donate the cost of a tee shirt (Beginning in 2010, all students receive a Project Inside Out tee shirt at no cost to the student. Approximate value is $6.00.)
  3. Sponsor the cost for all or part of a project. ($40-$60 provides the supplies for 8-10 students for a two-day project.)

If you would like to volunteer, please contact:

About Project Inside Out

Project Inside Out is a school program which challenges students to apply basic skills in a non-school setting. Students have the opportunity to explore and expand the basic school curriculum in a variety of hands-on activities and life experiences. Here is a link to some of the activities offered.

Once the children are at Project Inside Out, they work in multi-grade small groups of eight to ten children. Hopefully, students appreciate the fact that learning takes place all around them and not just in school. Here you can find a copy of the typical daily schedule.

Project Inside Out also provides an opportunity for teachers, parents, community members and various performing artists to work together with and for the children of Porter's Point School. Each year approximately one hundred adults are involved in making the program a success. This will be the 33rd consecutive year! Some parents have remained involved with Project Inside Out for many years even though their children have moved to another school.

Project Inside Out is totally funded by the money children earn through fundraising and donations from members of the community. Parent and community support in so many ways have made Project Inside Out the wonderful and unique program it has been for over thirty years.
