Demonstrates competency in many movement forms and proficiency in a few movement forms.

The skills that your child worked on during a unit is what they were graded on this quarter.  For example in volleyball the skills are overhead volley, forearm pass, underhand serve, and overhand serve.  The students are graded daily based on the criterion for each skill for the day.  They can assess themselves for the class, but the instructor has the final say on their grade for that class.  These scores are added together and divided by the number of classes they had.  That score is placed in a rubric to determine their grade for the quarter.

Applies movement concepts and principles to the learning and development of motor skills.  This means a concept that was stressed during the unit.  For example in volleyball, the concept grade was to try to hit the ball into an open space.  If they did this most every time they contacted the ball, they were a four.  Most students are a three, on grade level ability.  Four would be a higher skill level student.

Demonstrates responsible personal and social behavior in physical education classes.  This section is for behavior and getting along with peers in the class.  If your child is a good listener and follows directions, they should be a three.  If they are above expectations in this area, they would be a four.
