My
Philosophy of Music Education
I
believe that music education offers all students the vital
creativity that will make their learning process as out of the
ordinary as possible. And in so, to provide them with an outlet
that other subjects simply cannot offer them. When I teach my
students through the Orff-Schulwerk approach in music class,
creativity in learning is an everyday experience, because of the
variety of possibilities that each student can learn through.
Singing, the playing of many different types of instruments,
moving/dancing rhythmically, and improvising through each of these
areas are all ways to convey musicality together as a group. To me
this is the most effective way to teach music to children, because
every child will feel successful at one, if not all the levels of
learning. This positive success in my classroom is the result of
establishing a safe and positive atmosphere that provides the most
effective learning environment for each of my students. Each day I
strive to not just teach my students how to be the best musicians
they can be, but to also inspire each of them, so they will continue
to want to be involved in music education into their futures and for
the rest of their lives.
