Art Music Library Guidance Physical Education

Your child will participate in a 45 minute visual art class twice a week for 2 quarters each year.  The other 2 quarters he/she will participate in music, providing every student with 90 minutes of arts per week in either music or visual arts. Visual art provides a unique experience that allows a child to express what words alone cannot.  Art skills and concepts are introduced, developed and extended in order that your child learns the tools, vocabulary and methods necessary for imaginative self-expression. The visual art experience opens doors to the whole learning process. If you have any questions about your child's arts education please feel free to contact Mary Hyde (hydem@csdvt.org).

    Quotes from MBS students

Art makes me feel very happy because I love to draw. In art I have been drawing and painting pictures from books of Georgia O'Keeffe paintings. Georgia O'Keeffe looks at things she sees in front of her. She likes to draw very big flowers so people can see them. She blends in colors with her drawings and she likes to use curved lines but not straight lines in her pictures. She uses oil paint when she draws her pictures.

I think art is a great activity to do in school. Also I like art because I love to imagine before I draw. It makes me feel comfortable drawing pictures of my imagination.
