Mrs. Mulcahy's Class

Welcome to Mrs. Mulcahy's

Kindergarten Classroom

Hi, my name is Darlene Mulcahy.  I am so excited to be teaching Kindergarten here at Union Memorial School.  I live in Colchester with my husband and three wonderful girls, ages 15, 11 and 7.  Before moving to Colchester in 2004 my family and I had the opportunity to live in Ireland for four years, which was a fabulous experience for us all.  Our beloved Sligo, is a golden retriever, named after a town in Ireland.  When I have time, I love to read, scrapbook and go for walks with Sligo and my family.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns. The best way to reach me is by email; mulcahyd@csdvt.org . You can also leave me a message at 264-5775 ext. 4191.

Visit from Mrs. Chittenden's 4th graders

Mrs. Chittenden's 4th Graders came to read to us the wonderful books that they wrote and illustrated.  We paired up and listened to their well written stories.  We also read our stories that we had been writing in our Writing Workshop.  It was a great day of sharing literacy!  Thank you for visiting us, Mrs. Chittenden's class!

Our 100th Day of School!!
The 100th day of school is a fun celebration here at Union Memorial School.  When the children returned to the room in the afternoon, they found all the numbers from our 100 chart missing so they went on a hunt to find them all.  They worked together to put the numbers back in their correct order.  Then the children chose different activities in which to participate; using 100 marshmallows, toothpicks, cereals, and stamps.  They also contributed 100 snacks to add to our "100 gorp".    We also went on a museum walk to other classrooms to see the creative 100 day projects that other Kindergarteners made.  Look at all the fun we had!

After reading many Jan Brett books in December, including The Mitten and The Hat, we decorated our own mitten and gingerbread cookies during our Cookie Party!
