Welcome to
Mrs. Anderson's
Kindergarten Room!

Hi! I am Christine Anderson and I teach  kindergarten in room 15.  I am originally from Binghamton, New York where I taught full day Kindergarten for three years before moving to Vermont with my husband Felix.  We live in Colchester with our three wonderful children Sadie, Max, Ruby and our dog George.

I love to teach Kindergarten!  Kindergarten children are so amazing. They are excited about learning, eager to try new things, creative, kind, funny and best of all they tend to love their Kindergarten teacher.  My biggest job as a Kindergarten teacher is to make all of my students love school.

I am a faithful follower of the Responsive Classroom. If you were to enter my room at the start of each class you would catch us at a greeting, share and fun, motivating activity.  We have an amazing Emergent Reading program in Kindergarten. We follow the Everyday Math program and have a great hands on Science curriculum. We also do month long author and illustrator studies. I teach basic sign language and above all else I try to foster positive self esteem, team work and cooperation. My classroom is typically a very busy, active and hands on learning environment. I welcome and encourage  parent volunteers.

I love to tie literature into all areas of our kindergarten curriculum.  Below are some of my favorite author links.

Jan Brett          Laura Numeroff          Dr. Seuss          Eric Carle

The students are very proud of their Eric Carle word wall.  This was our culminating activity for our Eric Carle author study.  We were very lucky to have a visit from Tracey Campbell Pearson this winter.  The students enjoyed making their own Bob.  Enjoy our pictures below.

Students performed a Reader's Theater as a culminating activity for Denise Fleming unit.

Mr. Anderson came in to sing to the students for our "Singable literature" unit.
