Mrs. Derry: visual arts teacher Students at UMS come to art one day a week; first and second grade for 45 minutes and kindergarten for 40 minutes. Mrs. Derry is at Union Memorial School after 11:30 on Wednesday and all day Thursday and Friday. The district art curriculum is guided by Vermont and National Standards. Students are introduced to a wide array of materials and techniques and encouraged to explore their use. During class they look at works by famous artists and artwork from other cultures. They use both as inspiration for their own work. In addition we use connections to other subjects and literature to inspire us. Samples of Students' Work Click on arrows to view more images.
