Looking for a good book? Well, the UMS second grade students have a few they'd like to suggest...

Makenna recommends:
Wallace's Lists, by Barbara Bottner

"I liked this book because Wallace the mouse is funny. Another reason I like this book is because Wallace follows everything on his lists. I like this book because Wallace is a kind and loving mouse."

Katerina recommends:
A Perfect Picnic, by Sarah Albee

"Bert, Ernie, Elmo and Zoe were going to have a picnic. They were very picky about the place where they would have the picnic. All of a sudden, the ball from the baseball game went flying into the cake and Bert was all sticky."

Myla recommends:
Mouse Count, by Ellen Stall Walsh

"I liked this book because it is kind of funny. It has lots of descriptive words in the book. There are nine mice that are playing when a tricky snack comes by and wants to eat all nine mice. The mice are very smart. The mice are smart because the snack leaves. When the snack leaves, the mice get out of the jug."

Ruby recommends:
On the Banks of Plum Creek, by Laura Ingalls Wilder

"I liked this book because it wasn't a fiction. Also because it told a story and it showed you how to make hay and wheat and how to get rid of grasshoppers! I also liked the villain, Nellie Olsen. she was always trying to show off and get her way. Her father, Mr. Olsen owns a store in town where Nellie throws all her parties. I really liked the Part when they all went to the church and everyone got a present or two."

Lauren recommends:
Diary of a Wimpy Kid, by Jeff Kinney

"I liked this book because not only does it have a lot of words and 217 pages, it also has pictures and speech bubbles. My favorite part was when Greg threw an apple at a girl during their 'Wizard of Oz' play. It was really funny."

Gabby recommends:
Mercy Watson Thinks Like a Pig, by Kate DiCamillo

"I like that the pig has purple ears. I like that Mrs. and Mr. Watson have a pig. I like that the pig looks like a boy but is a girl. Also Mr. Watson's lips were all in a circle from the lemon. I also like that Mrs. Watson has a weird hairdo. I like that Eugenia Lincoln has blue hair lots of green. I like that the pig eats purple flowers."

Kaitlyn recommends:
Snow White and the Seven Dwarves, by Don Williams

"What I liked about this book is that it is a fairy tale. I also like it because it has a happy ending. The last reason I like it is that it is just a good story."

Adrianna recommends:
The Feel Good Book, by Todd Parr

"I like the book because it has a lot of details. He has very good drawings. I also like his book because he wrote a nice note at the end of his book."

Lizzie recommends:
Slugs in Love, by Susan Pearson

"Slugs in Love is about two slugs that are trying to get to each other. Marylou wrote a poem to Herbie. The poem is: 'Strawberries are red, Blueberries are blue. Herbie is handsome. Love, Marylou.' I think that is funny."
