OCTOBER READERS

Here are the UMS book reviews for the month of October:

h
Selma recommends:
Green Eggs and Ham, by Dr. Seuss

"I like this book because it is very funny. I like this book because it rhymes. I like this book because I like the author's message."

Robbie recommends:
Goofy's Big Race, published by Walt Disney World

"I liked this book because Donald thought he had the fastest and neatest car but Goofy didn't mind. Goofy had a really old car. I liked the part when Donald went into the car wash and his top was wide open. He got soaked! Goofy won the race because Donald thought he was better than Goofy and could do everything but he kept getting into trouble. It was really funny at the end."

Alli recommends:
The Rainbow Fish, by Marcus Pfister

"I like when Rainbow Fish shares his scales. I like that everyone gets a scale and that the other fish are happy. I like his sparkly scales. I like that Rainbow Fish goes to play with his friends."

Gabrielle recommends:
I Wanna Iguana, by Karen Kaufman Orloff

"I like the funny signatures. I like how almost the whole book is the mom and the son writing notes. The notes are funny. I like the iguana because of how he looks."

Nicole recommends:
Why Do Writers Write?, by Mrs. Davis' 2nd Grade Class

"I like this book because Mrs. Davis' class wrote it! It is cool because it has flaps. It is exciting. It was written by kids."

Molly recommends:
The Giving Tree, by Shel Silverstein

"I love The Giving Tree because there are good pictures in the book. It was sad when the boy cut down the tree. I liked it because the boy and the tree were friends."

Jonathan recommends:
SpongeBob Squarepants

"It is funny because it makes me laugh. It is awesome because I watch it all day. It makes me cry because people cry in it."

Michael recommends:
How I Became a Pirate, by Melinda Long

"I loved the illustrations! I liked how he was building a sandcastle and then the pirate ship came and took him away. He had fun being a pirate for a while and then he started to miss his parents. I would not want to be a real pirate."

Ben recommends:
Military Planes, by Ian Graham

"There are 'how to do's' in it. They show every kind of plane there is. It has stickers to put on the planes."

Morgan recommends:
Ridiculous Riddles, by Cyl Lee

"I like this book because it is funny. My favorite part is the sponge riddle. I also like the rooster riddle."

Ella recommends:
My Mom Bought Me a Mockingbird

"I like this book because it is fascinating. The baby kitten was sick and the mom went to go to buy a mockingbird. I also like this book because it sings."
