Guidance

Fred Moses, our Guidance Counselor

Guidance at Porters Point School is the first phase of a developmental approach to guidance in the Colchester School District. The focal point of elementary guidance is that guidance is for all students. Each student is exposed to guidance in the classroom setting where there is an emphasis on building and maintaining self-esteem, conflict resolution, friendship, problem solving and learning to make good decisions.

The guidance counselor is also available for individual and small group counseling focusing on topics mentioned above as well as changing families, loss, anger management and crisis management.

When the guidance counselor is not working directly with students, he is available as a resource for staff, parents and other individuals associated with the school. With school and home working together, Porters Point School students will be building an excellent educational foundation.
Guidance classes are offered to "ALL" student through out the school years. The main focus of these classes are making and keeping friends, understanding the differences in all of us , decision making and conflict resolution skills and other skills that will be developed through out their school years working with Colchester Guidance Counselors.
Guidance groups are also offered in the area of Anger Management, Changing Families , Friendships and other area where student can learn in a small group setting.
