You're Invited...Interplanetary Jammin' Play...Wednesday, February 4th at 6:30PM

Welcome to Room 180’s web page.  We have nineteen wonderful third graders. This year  we’ll study map skills, Native Americans, communities, animal adaptations, the solar system, and magnetism and electricity. In the second half of the year we’ll have a biography night and perform in a Solar System play.

The first semester in Mrs. Eaton’s room is always a busy one. We start the year learning about animal adaptations and habitats in science.  We visit the Malletts Bay woods to look for evidence of habitats.  We also observe monarch caterpillars making their chrysalises and then hatching into beautiful Monarch butterflies.  We conclude our study of animals with a report.  You’ll find a link to some animal sites if you want to discover more information about animals for yourself!

In the fall we also follow the steps of inquiry science to make our own unique glue; a messy but fun and interesting endeavor.  In the second trimester we move on to the solar system.  We learn about the sun and the nine planets.  We also discuss space travel and where we'll be going in the future. NASA

We also continue to do lots of reading and writing.  We write and word process poems and pieces for our writing portfolios. We work on procedures, reading responses,. Our first book projects were creative and exciting.

Everyday Math is moving along quickly.  We'll work on multiplication and division and learn our facts.

We will  be learning about map skills. We will use compasses to find directions and ended our study with a treasure hunt on the playground for a chest filled with “gold” left by Black Beard the pirate!

Our field trip will include the Montshire Museum.

Thanks for logging on to our web site and come visit again soon.
