ALL ABOUT MRS K.

My name is Anna Kilmer!

I grew up in Center Harbor, New Hampshire.  It's a small town nestled in the beautiful Lakes Region at the foothills of the White Mountains. Can you tell I love New Hampshire? I now live in Burlington with my husband Chris and our tiger cat Crash and our dog Lily.  In my spare time I play lots of volleyball.  I also enjoy biking, swimming, skiing, reading and being outside.  I love the Red Sox, Patriots, Celtics, animals, the color purple and anything made of chocolate!

What is Reading Workshop?

Reading Workshop allows students a daily time to explore texts that interest them.  Students will read books across a variety of genres and levels.  Comprehension strategies, fluency, word-solving strategies and other necessary skills will also be taught.  Students will learn that "reading is thinking!"  The goal of Reading Workshop is to cultivate lifelong readers.

What is Writing Workshop?

Writing Workshop allows students time to write for real purposes about things that interest them.  Students will learn about a variety of writing pieces, such as procedures, narratives and reports.  Grammar, usage and mechanics (GUM) will be taught.  The goal of Writing Workshop is to develop lifelong writers.
