Our Substitute Information

Application for Substituting Substitute Teacher Info

Thank you for your interest in substituting in our school system.  In each of our schools, we have a daily need to replace teachers and staff members who are absent because of illness, personal business, or professional growth.  Attracting well-qualified substitutes, supporting them as they get to know our schools, and calling them to return on a regular basis, enables our district to deliver quality instructional programs to all students every day.

The Colchester School District provides public education to approximately 2,520 children residing in the town of Colchester.  Colchester currently operates five separate school buildings and an administrative office building.  Schools include:

Colchester High School
Grades 9-12

Colchester Middle School
Grades 6-8

Malletts Bay School
Grades 3-5

Porters Point School
Grades K-2

Union Memorial School
Grades K-2 and the EEE Program

Our Application Process

If you are interested in substituting in the Colchester School District, you must complete a Substitute Application, W-4 form, I-9 form and three written letters of recommendation.  Also, the school district requires a criminal records check that involves employee fingerprinting.  ONLY the application is available online.  Interested candidates may request a complete application packet by contacting Human Resources.

Your name will be placed on our substitute list only after all necessary forms/reference letters have been received and the district approves your application.

All applicants will need to submit completed paperwork, in person (be sure to bring along appropriate identification listed on the back of the I-9 form), to the District’s Administrative Offices located at:
