Health Insurance

The Vermont Education Health Initiative (VEHI) is a large, non-profit purchaser of health care plans for Vermont's school employees.  This self-funded, fully-insured purchasing trust is managed jointly by the Vermont School Boards Insurance Trust (VSBIT) and the Vermont-National Education Association (Vermont-NEA).  VEHI purchases health plans on behalf of Vermont's public school employees, including teachers, administrators, secretaries, custodians, and other school district employees.

Colchester School District support staff employees who are eligible for health insurance have a choice between two of Blue Cross Blue Shield's health plans (a.k.a. VEHI's Dual Option Plan):

• Vermont Health Partnership, a point-of-service plan; and
• Comprehensive Plan with a $250 deductible, a fee-for-service plan.

Dental Insurance

Northeast Delta Dental provides dental insurance coverage for Colchester School District employees who are eligible for participation in our dental plan.  Delta Dental is a not-for-profit organization established and supported by dentists to make more dental care available to the general public.  A substantial majority of dentists in Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine participate in Delta Dental through Participating Dentist Agreements.  Employees are encouraged to obtain dental care from a participating dentist to get the best value from the program.

Life, AD&D, LTD Insurances

UnumProvident provides Group Life and Long Term Disability insurance coverage for Colchester School District employees who are eligible for participation in these plans.  Employees have the option of purchasing Accidental Death & Dismemberment coverage.  Employees may view the policies below for a summary of plan coverage.

Section 125/Cafeteria Plan

The Plan Administrator for Colchester School District’s Section 125/Cafeteria Plan is:

What is the Cafeteria Plan?  It is a plan set-up by your employer that allows you to save tax dollars on money deducted from your paycheck which is used to pay for health insurance premiums and to pay for out-of-pocket, non-insured health care and/or dependent day care expenses.
