Principals’ Message: Welcome back!!
We hope you had a relaxing summer and were able to enjoy your students’ time
off with them. We will be communicating with you weekly through the Thursday
Thoughts and also through our website. If you are interested in receiving the
Thursday Thoughts through email, please contact Peggy Rodgers at rodgersp@csdvt.org to let her know.
Picture Day: School
pictures will be on Wednesday, September 8th for 6th graders and
Thursday September, 9th for 7th & 8th graders. Order
forms were sent home with students, but we have extras in the main office. You
can also place orders online at www.mylifetouch.com. If you have any questions, you may contact
the main office 264-5800.
Fall
Sports Meeting: If your child plans on participating in any of
the CMS fall sports that are offered, you need to attend a mandatory parent
meeting on Thursday, September 9th at 7:00 pm in the CMS cafeteria.
Rules, expectations and other information will be shared. Any questions you
have will also be addressed.
After
School Bus: There will be an
activity bus for after school activities from Monday to Thursday during the
school year. The bus will be leaving CMS at 3:45 pm and is available for
students who stay for homework club, any after school club or sports team. We
anticipate the activity bus starting in September 13th. The last drop off spot for Island students
taking the after school bus will be the fire station located on Clay Point
Road. If you have a question on this,
please call Mountain Transit at 893-1334.
Back to
School Night: The annual Back to
School night will be held on September 22nd at 6:00 pm in the
cafeteria.
Book Fair:
The library will be holding its annual Book
Fair from Monday, September 20th thru Thursday, September 23rd.
All students will have an opportunity to visit the book fair and it will also
be open during Back to School night.
CMS
Website:
The CMS website is updated daily and hosts information
on homework, activities, sports schedules and practices, and after school
activities. Please visit www.csdvt.org/cms often.
Wiffle
Ball Tournament: The 5th
Annual Bill Kohlasch Wiffle Ball Tournament will be held on Saturday, September
11th. If you have any questions, please contact the Colchester Parks
& Recreation Dept at 264-5642.
Girls
Soccer Tryouts:
If your daughter is interested in trying out for the
CMS Soccer team, tryouts will be held on Thursday & Friday, September 2nd
& 3rd from 2:30 – 4:30 pm. You must provide transportation home
for your student.
Boys
Soccer:
The schedule for Boys’ soccer tryouts will be
announced as soon as it is finalized.
Field
Hockey:
The schedule for Girls’ Field Hockey tryouts will be
announced as soon as it is finalized.
CMS
Dance:
The first dance of the year will be hosted by Partners
in Education on Friday, September 24th from 6:30
– 8:30 pm. If you are available to chaperone please email Kelley DesLauriers at
deslauriersk@csdvt.org to let her
know.
Partners in
Education: The CMS Partners in Education (PIE) is a group
of parents, teachers and administrators that are working together to facilitate
parent and family involvement in the CMS community and to help support a positive
school climate at CMS. Please join us for our first meeting on September 16th
6:30 pm in the library. For more information please contact Kelley DesLauriers
