C.M.S. – Bolton Valley After-School Ski/Board Program 2008 -2009

Expectations and Overview

·        This is a school-sponsored activity.  All behavioral expectations of CMS must be adhered to.

·        We are participating in the 5-week Friday evening program (Session #1)

·        Rules and regulations of Bolton Valley Resort must be observed at all times.

·        Any violation or infraction of these expectations will result in consequences outlined in the CMS Parent-Student Handbook, and may result in a suspension from further participation in this program.

·        Students must arrive on time for loading/departure from C.M.S. at 2:30 p.m. at the boarding area.  Attendance will be taken before departing.

·        Students must also be on the busses promptly for an 8:25 p.m. departure from Bolton Valley.  Attendance will be taken before departing.  Bussing provided by Mountain Transit.

·        ALWAYS ski/board with a partner.  Know where your partner is at all times.

·        Students and chaperones are responsible for their own clothing and equipment at all times.

·        Students using the provided transportation must return on the bus unless written documentation signed by a parent/guardian is received 24 hours in advance.

·        NO student will be left at Bolton Valley Resort without adult supervision.

·        CMS will have a designated area in the lodge to keep personal items.  It is our responsibility to keep this area clean and to be respectful of others’ property.

·        Registration payments are to be made to Colchester Middle School.

·        Registration forms must be signed by a parent or guardian.

·        HELMETS ARE REQUIRED

Equipment/gear needs to be dropped off in the cafeteria (stage area) on Friday mornings before the start of school.  Equipment will not be allowed on the regular school busses in the morning routes.

Equipment will be loaded in personal vehicles outside of the band room and into busses at the CMS loading/unloading area immediately following dismissal at 2:10.  Students will board their assigned bus at the regular CMS boarding area when their gear has been secured.  We will leave after attendance is taken.

Students will pick up their gear when we arrive at Bolton.  Please do not bring snowboards or skis into the lodge.  Lift tickets will be distributed to students by the chaperones inside the lodge.  If you need assistance in attaching your lift ticket to the wickets worn on your coat, get assistance from other participants or a chaperone.  Supervision is provided by our chaperones and Bolton Valley, but only indirectly on the mountain.  Students are allowed to ski/board with others that may not be under direct adult supervision.  Please be advised of this as you make decisions about joining the program.

Those renting will need to proceed to the rental shop to obtain their gear.  Mr. Epstein will distribute lift tickets for those renting at that location.  Lessons will begin at 4:30 p.m. and you will need to meet outside the lodge at a designated location.  Your instructor will meet with you to explain this.  Be on time!

Please use the lodge throughout the evening to warm-up and to get a beverage and a snack if needed.  Bring your own snacks if you wish, but the snack bar is open to purchase items. Use the restrooms as needed.  Students are not allowed upstairs in the lounge/restaurant.

Start preparing to leave Bolton at 8:00 p.m.  Check that you have all of your gear and other possessions.  Rental equipment must be returned to the rental shop.  Help clean up our area in the lodge and board busses no later than 8:30 p.m.  We will leave promptly at 8:25!

Rescheduling due to school cancellation or poor skiing conditions will be January 30, 2009.

Registration deadline is November 14th.  Forms and payment are due no later than this date.  An informational meeting is scheduled for Thursday, November 13th from 6:00 – 7:00 pm in the CMS cafeteria.  Payment may be made at this time.
