Colchester Middle School Partners In Education (PIE)
What is PIE?
The CMS Partners in Education (PIE) - formerly the PTO - is a group of parents, teachers and school administrators who are working together to
-
facilitate parent and family involvement in the CMS community and
-
help support a positive school climate at CMS.
The new name, Partners in Education, was chosen to better reflect the focus on strengthening the family-school community.
What does PIE do?
PIE will achieve these goals through a variety of activities including
-
presentations for parents on topics relevant to raising a middle-school student
-
supporting fun family activities at the middle school, such as the Cougar Follies skit and talent night held in January 2009
-
quarterly breakfasts at CMS to recognize excellent teaching, as well as exceptional student effort and/or improvement,
-
the 8th Grade Recognition Ceremony at the end of the school year, and
-
small grants to support special projects or educational needs at CMS.
What about Fundraising?
PIE is committed to carrying out the goals and activities listed above with minimal fundraising. At present we have three main funding sources. These are a) participating in the Shaw’s upermarket Neighborhood Rewards Program, b) the first CMS dance of the school year and c) parents helping out in the snack bar for a few hours at the annual Holiday Craft Show at CHS.
