The Colchester School District believes that teachers must continue to grow, to improve, and to achieve higher levels of competence in order to provide the best possible educational opportunities for all students. Each teacher will create a professional development plan designed to reinforce and improve his/her knowledge and skills while providing a model of lifelong learning for all students. Although many options and activity choices for such plans of development exist, Colchester teachers will be guided by the following five Standards for Vermont Educators:
Reviewing each Individual Professional Development Plan with these components in mind, the Colchester Local Standards Board (CLSB) will ensure rigorous standards for their profession, high quality educational experiences for all students, a connection to the school's initiatives for improving student learning and assessing students' needs, and the implementation of Vermont's Frameworks of Standards and Learning Opportunities. The CLSB has defined local standards which govern the relicensing of all teachers eligible for a Level II license and employed by the Colchester School District. These standards are consistent with those defined in two publications: Standards for Vermont Educators: A Vision for Schooling (1999) and The Plan of Operation Colchester Local Standards Board. |
