Title: FrontPage 2003 Basics

 

Discipline: Computer and Information Science

 

Workshop description: This workshop is designed to introduce you to web page designing software that: enhances your classroom materials, assists in improved teacher/student communication, and encourages technology in the classroom. You will create web pages for a minimum of: a home page, a homework page, and a newsletter page.  Note that previous statement used the word “minimum.”  When working on your web pages during the break-out session, you will be able to add as many web pages as you deem is necessary for your specific course(s).  You will learn to organize these materials (web pages, page content, images, and other relevant information) in such a manner that is clear and easily understood by students viewing your web pages.  At the end of this workshop, you will have developed a complete and final set of web pages that will be published on the Colchester High School website.

  • To learn how to add hyperlinks and e-mail links

  • Have completed web pages ready to be published by the end of this workshop
  • Have a home page
  • Have a homework page (if applicable to the content that you teach)
  • Have a newsletter page
  • Have a web page that incorporates the use of an image
  • Have a web page that incorporates the use of hyperlinks and an e-mail link

 

Questions for Self-Evaluation

 

  1. Have you embraced the concepts you have learned in the workshop around design layout? Is there consistency throughout your web page(s)?

  2. Do you know how to use tables for design layout?
  3. Is the content of your web page(s) well organized?
  4. Do the colors work? Can you see your text easily over the background? Is there good contrast and is the font size large enough to be read easily?
  5. Do you have a home page?
  6. Do you have a homework page (if applicable)?
  7. Do you have a newsletter page?
  8. Did you include an image?
  9. Did you incorporate hyperlinks and an e-mail link?
